Specna Arms Teflon Grease (PTFE) 50gr

Specna Arms Teflon Grease (PTFE) 50gr is a PTFE-based lubricating grease that reduces friction between moving parts in an AEG gearbox. By forming a durable lubricating film on contact surfaces, gears, bushings and bearings move more smoothly, enabling the entire drivetrain to operate more efficiently and suffer less wear and tear.
During a gearbox overhaul, a great deal of attention is paid to components such as gears, shims and bearings, whilst the choice of lubricant is just as crucial to the final performance. An unsuitable or too-thin grease often disappears quickly from the contact zones, whilst a universal grease that is too thick can actually cause extra resistance. PTFE grease has been developed to prevent precisely that problem. Thanks to Teflon’s extremely low coefficient of friction, a smooth protective layer is formed which remains in place for a long time and reduces the mechanical load on the entire gearbox.
You really notice this in practice during long days of play or intensive training sessions. The gearbox runs more smoothly, the motor needs to exert less force to complete the same cycle, and metal contact surfaces are better protected against wear. Particularly in builds featuring powerful springs, high-speed gear sets or high-torque motors, good lubrication makes a noticeable difference to the service life of the internal components.
Why choose PTFE grease?
In an AEG, rapidly rotating metal parts are constantly in contact with one another. Gears mesh together, bushings or bearings support the shafts, and the motor generates thousands of revolutions per minute. Without a suitable lubricating film, mechanical resistance increases, leading to additional heat build-up, increased noise and accelerated wear.
PTFE is known for its exceptionally low coefficient of friction. As a result, gears move more smoothly against one another without the grease being immediately squeezed out. During overhauls, we regularly find that universal greases spread throughout the gearbox, whereas a good PTFE grease remains precisely where lubrication is most needed.
An additional advantage is that a more efficient drivetrain also indirectly reduces the load on the engine. Whilst this does not result in any spectacular FPS gains, it does ensure a smoother cycle and more consistent gearbox operation.
Performance during maintenance and upgrades
This grease has been developed for virtually all internal moving parts of an AEG gearbox. These include gears, bushings, ball bearings and other metal contact surfaces where long-term lubrication is required.
The 50-gram pack is more than enough for several maintenance sessions or complete gearbox overhauls. As only a thin layer is required, a tub lasts considerably longer than many users expect. Moreover, applying too much grease is a common mistake; excess grease attracts dirt and can ultimately be detrimental to the gearbox’s efficiency.
The PTFE formula continues to adhere well to the contact surfaces even under prolonged stress. As a result, the lubricating effect is maintained, even when a replica is used intensively during skirmishes or training sessions.
Compatibility within an AEG build
Specna Arms PTFE Grease is suitable for both Version 2 and Version 3 gearboxes and can be used in standard, high-speed and high-torque configurations.
The lubricating grease is a logical choice to use in conjunction with new gears, steel bushings, ball bearings, shims, piston assemblies and other internal upgrade parts. During a complete rebuild, we always recommend removing all traces of old grease before applying new grease. This is because mixing different types of lubricants can adversely affect their lubricating properties.
Practical insights that are often underestimated
One point that is often overlooked is that more grease does not automatically mean better lubrication. A thin, even layer on the correct contact surfaces is almost always more effective than a gearbox completely filled with grease.
Furthermore, much mechanical noise is caused not only by poor shimming, but also by insufficient lubrication between the gear flanks. The right combination of shimming and PTFE grease often results in a noticeably quieter drivetrain.
Finally, the motor is often the first thing to be suspected when a gearbox is running heavily. In reality, the cause is frequently increased internal friction. By reducing this resistance, the motor needs to deliver less power to complete the same cycle.
Key features
- Low-friction PTFE formula reduces mechanical resistance between gears, bearings and bushings for a smoother gearbox cycle.
- Long-lasting adhesion to contact surfaces prevents the grease from being quickly displaced from critical lubrication points during intensive use.
- Suitable for maintenance and overhauls of Version 2 and Version 3 gearboxes, from standard builds to high-performance configurations.
- 50 grammes provides enough lubricant for several servicing sessions and complete gearbox upgrades.
Who is this PTFE grease suitable for?
This grease is an excellent choice for airsoft players who maintain their replicas themselves, experienced airsoft technicians and anyone who wants their gearbox to run as efficiently as possible. The reduced friction offers a clear advantage, particularly for replicas that are used intensively or fitted with internal upgrades.
If you’re using an entry-level AEG that’s only used occasionally and you hardly ever open the gearbox, an overhaul will be needed less often. However, as soon as you start upgrading the internal components or carrying out preventative maintenance, a specialised PTFE lubricant is a much better choice than universal assembly grease.
During a full gearbox overhaul, it is also advisable to fit new shims, bushings or bearings, a suitable cylinder set and, if necessary, a new piston assembly at the same time. This ensures that all components benefit from an optimally adjusted and well-lubricated drivetrain.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I use PTFE grease in a gearbox?
On gears, bushings, ball bearings and other metal contact surfaces where long-term lubrication is required. Do not use it as a substitute for silicone oil on rubber hop-up parts.
Is this grease suitable for Version 2 and Version 3 gearboxes?
Yes. The grease is suitable for both gearbox platforms and can be used in both standard and upgraded AEGs.
How much grease should I apply?
A thin, even layer is sufficient. Too much grease increases friction and can attract dirt, which actually reduces performance.
Can I mix this PTFE grease with old grease?
This is not recommended. Remove all traces of old grease before applying new grease to maintain optimum lubricating properties.
How long does a 50-gram jar last?
With normal maintenance, 50 grams is sufficient for several complete gearbox overhauls, as only a small amount is required per service.
Would you like to make the internal workings of your AEG run more smoothly, more quietly and more efficiently? Then the Specna Arms Teflon Grease (PTFE) 50gr is a well-considered choice for maintenance, overhauls and high-quality gearbox upgrades.
