The CTM Tactical Nozzle Spring 180% for Hi-Capa™ GBB is a reinforced nozzle return spring for Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 and 4.3 GBB airsoft pistols and compatible Hi-Capa systems conforming to the TM standard. The spring is designed to return the nozzle to its starting position more powerfully and quickly, making it particularly suitable for tuned Hi-Capa builds where a reliable and fast cycle is important.

CTM TAC manufactures this nozzle spring from German SWP-A spring steel and specifies it as an 180% spring. This percentage should be regarded as the strength rating of the upgrade spring and not as a claim that the power, FPS or overall performance of the replica will literally increase by 180 per cent.

Faster and more powerful nozzle return

During the cycle of a GBB Hi-Capa, the nozzle moves in tandem with the blowback system. The nozzle spring is responsible for returning the nozzle to its starting position. A reliable nozzle return is particularly important for consistent operation, especially in faster or more extensively modified builds.

The 180% CTM TAC nozzle spring provides greater spring tension than a standard configuration and is designed to retract the nozzle more quickly. This can help ensure a more reliable cycle and BB feeding, particularly when various parts of the Hi-Capa have been modified for faster operation.

Incidentally, a stiffer nozzle spring does not automatically increase the FPS. This component mainly affects the movement and return of the nozzle within the GBB cycle.

German SWP-A spring steel

CTM TAC uses SWP-A spring wire from Germany for this upgrade. This type of spring steel has been chosen to combine the required spring force with durability during repeated compression and extension.

This is relevant in the case of a nozzle spring because it is subjected to stress during every cycle of the pistol. Particularly with Hi-Capas, which are frequently used for Speedsoft, training or other applications involving a high rate of fire, such a small component gets surprisingly little respite.

180% voor getunede Hi-Capa-builds

A 180% nozzle spring is particularly useful when the standard nozzle return no longer works optimally with the rest of a modified Hi-Capa. Consider, for example, builds where parts of the slide, blowback unit or nozzle have been replaced and a faster nozzle return is required.

That does not mean that a 180% spring is automatically a necessary upgrade for every standard Hi-Capa. With GBB tuning, the various components work together as a single system. A stronger spring alters the timing and resistance during the cycle and must therefore be compatible with the rest of the configuration.

For Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 and 4.3

CTM TAC specifies this nozzle spring specifically for the Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 and 4.3. The spring has therefore been developed to fit the widely used TM Hi-Capa internal standard.

In addition, the spring is available for other Hi-Capa platforms that use TM-standard internals, with 5.4 TTI, Dragon 7 and SSP5 listed as compatible models, amongst others. For non-Tokyo Marui replicas, it is advisable to check the actual internal compatibility, as a Hi-Capa appearance does not automatically mean that every internal component is manufactured entirely in accordance with TM specifications.

Two nozzle springs per pack

CTM TAC supplies this upgrade as a set of two 180% nozzle springs. This means you’ll immediately have a second one available as a spare or for another compatible Hi-Capa.

For players who carry out regular maintenance or have a heavily used competition or Speedsoft build, a spare spring is no luxury. The part is small, but without a properly functioning nozzle return, a Hi-Capa will soon cease to perform impressively.

Practical insights

The CTM Tactical Nozzle Spring 180% is a relatively simple internal upgrade, but its impact must be considered within the context of the entire GBB cycle. A stronger nozzle spring can support a faster and more reliable nozzle return, but it does not automatically resolve every feeding, gas or cycling issue.

In the event of malfunctions, you should therefore also check the nozzle itself, the blowback unit, the piston head, the magazines, the gas pressure and other relevant components. With a heavily tuned Hi-Capa, the balance between components is more important than simply fitting the strongest spring available everywhere.

Before assembly, the slide and blowback/nozzle assembly must be partially dismantled. Some experience with Hi-Capa GBB internals is therefore advisable. When dismantling, take particular care with small springs and parts; they have a remarkable knack for springing straight to the hardest-to-reach corner of the workshop.

Who is the CTM Tactical Nozzle Spring 180% suitable for?

The CTM Tactical Nozzle Spring 180% for Hi-Capa™ GBB is suitable for players and tuners who wish to adjust the nozzle return on a Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1/4.3 or a compatible TM-standard Hi-Capa.

The upgrade is particularly of interest for Speedsoft, competition and custom Hi-Capa builds where a fast cycle and reliable nozzle return are important. For a fully standard Hi-Capa, a 180% spring is not necessarily required; the choice must be in line with the rest of the internal setup.

Common mistakes

  • Do not interpret 180% as 180% more FPS or 180% more power from the replica; it is the strength rating of the nozzle spring.
  • Don’t expect a sturdier nozzle spring to automatically solve every cycling or feeding problem.
  • For non-TM Hi-Capas, check whether the internal parts actually comply with the Tokyo Marui standard.
  • Do not confuse a nozzle spring with a recoil spring; both springs have a different function within the GBB cycle.
  • Choose internal upgrades as part of a complete setup, rather than solely on the basis of the highest percentage.
  • Do not force any parts during assembly and check that the nozzle can move freely after installation.
  • When dismantling, be aware of small parts and springs in the blowback/nozzle assembly.
  • Test the replica thoroughly after assembly before using it in a skirmish or competition.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of a nozzle spring in a Hi-Capa?
The nozzle spring helps to return the nozzle to its starting position during the GBB cycle. Correct nozzle return is important for reliable operation and BB feeding.

What does 180% mean?
180% is the specified spring strength rating of this reinforced nozzle spring. It does not mean that the replica will have 180% more FPS, joules or overall power.

Will this nozzle spring increase my FPS?
Not directly. Its primary function is to affect the nozzle return and cycling. It is not a power upgrade designed to directly increase muzzle velocity.

Is this spring suitable for a Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1?
Yes. CTM TAC specifies it specifically for the Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1.

Does it also fit a Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 4.3?
Yes. CTM TAC also states that the TM Hi-Capa 4.3 is compatible.

Does this nozzle spring fit in every Hi-Capa?
No, that should not be assumed. The spring is based on the Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa standard. For replicas from other manufacturers, you should check whether the relevant internals are compatible with it.

Is the spring suitable for an SSP5?
Specialist retailers list the SSP5 as a compatible model. As CTM TAC primarily lists the TM Hi-Capa 5.1/4.3 on its own product page, we always recommend checking internal compatibility for other Hi-Capa platforms.

Is this upgrade of interest to Speedsoft?
Yes. A stronger and faster nozzle return may be of interest for tuned Hi-Capa builds where a fast cycle is important.

Do I also need to fit a 180% recoil spring?
Not necessarily. A recoil spring and a nozzle spring serve different purposes. The correct combination depends on the Hi-Capa’s overall internal configuration.

How many nozzle springs do I get?
The pack contains two CTM TAC 180% nozzle springs.

What are the springs made of?
CTM TAC uses SWP-A spring wire from Germany.

The CTM Tactical Nozzle Spring 180% for Hi-Capa™ GBB is a compact yet effective upgrade for Hi-Capa builds where a fast and reliable nozzle return is required; it is supplied as a set of two springs made from German SWP-A spring steel.
