A LiPo battery powers your AEG and largely determines how long you can keep playing without having to change the battery. The Specna Arms LiPo 7.4V 2000mAh 15/30C Battery Butterfly Tamiya has been developed for players who want to play a full day’s game with a stable trigger response and reliable power output, without having to constantly swap batteries.

Whereas many standard batteries reach their limits halfway through a long skirmish or milsim event, this 2000mAh version is specifically designed to ensure operational continuity. The combination of high capacity, a safe 7.4V configuration and a consistent 15/30C discharge rate ensures that the motor and gearbox continue to function predictably throughout the day. Players who fire hundreds to thousands of BBs per day of play will notice the difference immediately in terms of ease of use and fewer interruptions.

Performance during long match days

The greatest benefit of this battery lies not only in its capacity, but above all in the combination of playtime and stability. A higher capacity means fewer battery changes, but a stable discharge curve also ensures that the replica continues to feel consistent over a longer period of time.

At outdoor paintball and military simulation events, we often see players bringing along several smaller batteries to ensure they have enough power. This adds extra weight, more cables and more occasions when a battery change is needed. With a capacity of 2000mAh, a single battery can last many players for a significant part of the day.

The 7.4V voltage is a deliberate choice. Whilst 11.1V batteries deliver a more aggressive trigger response, many experienced players opt for 7.4V when reliability, gearbox load and service life are more important than maximum rate of fire. This creates a good balance between performance and mechanical stress, particularly with standard AEG platforms.

Butterfly configuration and compatibility

The butterfly configuration makes this battery suitable for replicas with split battery compartments, such as various crane stocks and other systems where the battery cells are positioned on either side of the buffer tube.

A common mistake is choosing a battery with sufficient capacity that ultimately does not physically fit into the available space. Narrow butterfly cells often offer a solution where stick or block batteries fall short.

Measuring 13 cm in length and just 1.1 cm in height, this battery is relatively easy to fit into many standard AEG setups.

Materials, technology and power output

LiPo technology has now established itself as the standard in modern airsoft platforms. Compared to older NiMH batteries, a LiPo offers higher energy density, meaning more capacity is available without the battery pack becoming significantly larger.

The 15C continuous discharge rate and 30C peak discharge ensure that the motor receives sufficient power even during rapid-fire bursts. You’ll notice this particularly when firing several shots in quick succession. A battery with an insufficient discharge rate can cause a drop in voltage, resulting in a less consistent trigger response.

One interesting point that many players underestimate is that a battery not only affects the rate of fire, but also the consistency of the gearbox cycle. A stable power supply helps to keep the drive predictable, which in the long run contributes to more consistent firing performance.

Use as part of a complete loadout

This battery is best suited to standard AEG platforms used for long gaming sessions. Examples include M4 platforms with crane stock, AR variants with split battery compartments, or other replicas that support a butterfly battery.

To ensure maximum battery life, we always recommend using a high-quality LiPo balancer charger. A LiPo voltage checker is also a valuable addition to any kit. This prevents the voltage from dropping below the safe limit of 3V per cell, which can cause permanent damage to the battery.

Who is and isn’t it suitable for?

This battery is particularly useful for players who take part in long outdoor skirmishes, training sessions or milsim events and want to minimise the number of battery changes. Players who value a reliable and gearbox-friendly 7.4V configuration will also find this very beneficial.

If you mainly play short CQB sessions lasting a few hours and fire relatively few BBs, a smaller LiPo battery is often sufficient. If, on the other hand, you’re looking for maximum trigger response for a heavily modified high-speed build, an 11.1V configuration may be a better fit, provided your replica is compatible with it.

Key features

  • 2000mAh capacity significantly reduces the number of battery changes during long gaming sessions and military simulation operations.
  • The 7.4V configuration offers a balanced combination of reliability, consistent performance and reduced mechanical stress.
  • 15/30C discharge rate ensures a stable power output during intense gameplay and rapid bursts of fire.
  • Butterfly design with Tamiya connector fits in replicas with separate battery compartments, such as various crane stock configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a 2000mAh LiPo battery last during a day of play?
This depends on the number of shots fired, the motor configuration and the replica. For many players, 2000mAh is sufficient for a large part of a full day of play.

Is 7.4V better than 11.1V?
Not necessarily. A 7.4V battery puts less strain on the gearbox and is often chosen for its reliability and durability. An 11.1V battery generally offers better trigger response and rate of fire.

Can I use this battery in any AEG?
Only if the available battery compartment is suitable for a butterfly configuration and the replica uses a Tamiya connector.

Do I always have to fully discharge a LiPo battery before recharging it?
No. LiPo batteries do not suffer from memory effect. In fact, recharging them regularly is normal for this type of battery.

Why is a balance charger important?
A balance charger ensures that both cells are charged evenly. This extends the battery’s service life and reduces the risk of damage.

With the Specna Arms LiPo 7.4V 2000mAh 15/30C Battery Butterfly Tamiya, you’re choosing a power source that supports long days of play with consistent performance, fewer battery changes and a reliable power output when continuity is more important than experimenting with your setup.
