What exactly does an Airsoft Spring do?

During each firing cycle, the gears pull the piston backwards, compressing the spring. FPS of Joule?

Air leakage can be caused by a worn piston head, a leaking cylinder head, an incorrectly selected or worn AEG nozzle, or a hop-up rubber that no longer seals properly. As a result, some of the compressed air is lost before the BB leaves the barrel.

By first rectifying the cause of the air leak, a replica can often deliver the desired performance again without the need for a heavier spring.

In addition, a stiffer spring also places extra strain on the system. Not only do the piston and gears have to work harder, but the motor must also deliver more power to re-coke the spring during each firing cycle. A standard motor is not designed to cope with every type of heavy spring and may therefore respond more slowly, overheat or wear out more quickly.

Experienced airsoft technicians therefore always check the condition of the entire compression system first before deciding to fit a heavier spring.

Why choose a ball-bearing spring guide?

Many high-quality spring guides are fitted with ball bearings. These are not only designed to reduce friction, but primarily to absorb the natural rotation of the spring as it compresses and extends.

This is because a spring rotates slightly around its axis when it is compressed. A spring guide fitted with ball bearings allows for this movement, thereby reducing torsion in the spring. This helps the gearbox to operate more smoothly and can extend the service life of both the spring and the spring guide.

What is a Quick Spring Change (QSC) system?
